Creating your community

Unsure what to make or say about it? Here's some tips!

The area size​

The area size might feel a bit limiting, but it is designed to basically be a neighborhood or a couple. When selecting your tiles, give each press a few quick thoughts:

  • Do I go to this area much?
  • Is it hard to get there? Is it well connected by transport with the rest of the area?
  • Can I be bothered to go there on super short notice?

If the answer to these questions is "yes", add it! You're the expert on your local area and you know where the buses and trains go and where people live and hang out.

As the application is new it's probably a good idea to stretch that area just a little bit to catch more people. If later you find out that it is too big and bothersome you can always split it up.

Lastly, be careful with your privacy. Select at least a few tiles to anonymise yourself (unless you're adding a community that exists in a public area, like a pub or a library), and try not to put your house in the middle of your total selected area.

Title​

This one doesn't really matter, put down whatever as long as it's not offensive. It can match what your community is about or be completely random.

Description​

This is the bit where you think more about what your community is actually for. And it's completely up to you - you can make it a generic group for everyone if you just want to meet people, or put specific things that you want to do or people to meet, e.g.

  • Young professionals
  • 20s and 30s
  • Boardgame and movie enthusiasts
  • Gym goers

It's a balance, a more generic group will let you meet more people and give you new perspectives but might be less tight knit, while a focused group will see fewer faces but you will have something in common straight away.

The description can be as short as you want it to be.

URLs​

Link to your community. Can be a group chat, a Facebook or Meetup group or your own website. Ideally there will be some chatting capability.

You can post existing groups or create a completely new one.
